I’m happy to see that
I’m happy to see that the Federal courts rejected Microsoft’s settlement proposal. If you’ve had your head under a rock, Microsoft’s idea was to settle its antitrust litigation by donating a bunch ($1 billion bunch) of Microsoft software (and assorted hardware) to public schools.
Being an educational technology professional, I have to seriously consider anything that may help narrow the digital divide. But, as a human being with common sense, I have to wonder how Microsoft figured that settling antitrust litigation (which came about because they were giving away products to try to nab and secure market share in sneaky, underhanded ways) by giving away software to the only market they don’t have a stranglehold on (Apple is still a major player in K12 education) wouldn’t raise all sorts of red flags.
Silly Microsoft.
