Just Say No to Microsoft
December 10th, 2003
Just Say No to Microsoft is a site that lists alternatives to major Microsoft software packages.
I’m a big fan of the Mozilla Firebird browser, Mozilla Thunderbird mail client, and OpenOffice office suite as replacements for Internet Explorer, Outlook Express, and Microsoft Office.
Now I’m eager to check out Ability as an alternative to Microsoft Access (since OpenOffice doesn’t come with a database manager) .
If you truly want an alternative to Microsoft, then why not mention alternative operating systems?
The linked website lists many alternatives to Microsoft Windows.
However, it’s a mistake to assume that because I highlighted a site called “Just Say No To Microsoft” that I want to ditch everything Microsoft-related.
Likewise, it’s a mistake to assume that because I don’t feel its necessary to shell out several hundred bucks for Microsoft Office, I want to ditch Windows.
Stuff doesn’t have to be that all or nothing.
